Virtual Learning Environment with Flexible Mixed Reality Remote Experiments Architecture

This work discusses the use of remotely web-based experiments to improve the learning process of automation and control systems theory courses. An architecture combining virtual learning environments, remote experiments, students guidance and experiments analysis is proposed. The experiment is integrated in the learning environment and supports the combination of real equipments with simulated (virtual) ones. Users can easily configure a specific component to be related to a real or a simulated device by using a strategy called interchangeable components.
